The smallest targeting scaffold known

Sherpabodies (SH3-based Recombinant Protein Affinity) are tiny and highly versatile antibody-mimetic proteins of human origin that can be used for specific targeting in a wide range of antiviral prophylactic and therapeutic applications. They represent the smallest (<6 kD, <60 amino acids) targeting domain developed so far.

Specifically suitable for targeting viral surface structures

The Sherpabody platform is specifically designed to rapidly generate inhibitor candidates capable of targeting and inactivating diverse viral targets. Sherpabodies targeted to a specific virus are discovered by affinity screening of semisynthetic phage display libraries composed of nephrocystin-1 SH3 domains with randomized target binding surfaces.

Highly manufacturable and amenable for further engineering

Sherpabodies can be cost-effectively produced in large quantities in E. coli in soluble form, and are highly stable under a wide range of conditions. Due to their modular nature Sherpabodies can be freely fused with other proteins or multimerized without loss of function or solubility.

Research and product development

 We focus on exploiting the Sherpabody platform to develop and patent preventive intranasal inhibitors targeting the most important respiratory viruses.
